Grant's First Day

Grant started school last Thursday. He did great when I dropped him off. Me, not so much! It was hard to leave him with people I don't know well. I was in a hurry to get there so I wouldn't be late the first day. It wasn't until I watched him walk into the room that it hit me. He is growing up so fast and soon it will be time for Kindergarten. I had a little cry and then I was fine.

I did much better today. He is so excited to be there and the staff at his school is wonderful. I guess he is learning something. Here is an excerpt from our conversation on the way home from school:

Me: How was your day?

G: It was fine, just fine.

Me: What did you learn today? Did you have Spanish?

G: Yes, I said AMIGOS.

Me: Did you go to choir and sing songs?

G: No, Mom. We call that chapel.

Me: Oh, excuse me. Did you learn about the letter "A"?

G:Yeah, and "A" says aaa and apple begins with "A" (as he shows me the sign for the letter "A").

Pretty cool. All that in one day.

I can't believe how quickly it all goes. I want to freeze frame this time in life and live here forever. Well, on a good day anyway:)

I'm so glad he is loving school. Gives me hope for Grant's little mini-me,Park!

Love you

I'm glad to know I'm not he only one that had to cry a little on the first day of school!! (and Mallory only goes one day a week...ha!!) It is hard to watch them grow up, but super fun all at the same time!
